ILS Engineer

Clearance: Active SC or higher required for this role

Role Summary: You will be working closely with one of our largest customers to manage the Integrated Logistic Support function on a part time basis. You will be customer facing and be responsible for maintenance of the ILS and Obsolescence artefacts such as;
* Through Life Management Plan
* Software Support Plan
* Integrated Logistic Support Plan.

Responsibilities:
* Leading and delivering the day-to-day management of effective integrated produce support for projects.
* Design, develop and manage the ILS including planning, coordinating resources and the support solution for products.
* Develop and manage ILS Work Breakdown Structure and schedules.
* Analysing the support requirements within a bid/project.
* Influence the product design.
* Develop, review and initiate updates to the Logistic Information Repository (LIR) to ensure its maintenance is in accordance with required standards
* Monitor and update the Risk Register and initiate actions with Engineering
* Lead the planning and delivery of the Supportability Analysis Programme.

Our Ideal Candidate:
* Understanding of predictive logistics models
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the business
* Prioritisation and ability to deal with multiple issues on a regular basis
* Strategic planning of support work, from supply chain through to customer delivery
* A degree and/or Engineering experience.
* Registration as a Professional Engineer (or working towards).

Job Title: ILS/IPS Engineer

Location: Portsmouth and Scotstoun/Glasgow – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £42,800 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

   •   Appling proven analysis techniques to systems and develop maintenance and procedures to understand Support requirements and develop solutions

   •   Working with a degree in technical autonomy demonstrates a commitment to professional ILS/IPS principles within the analysis or maintenance disciplines

   •   Developing and producing specific ILS/IPS output consistent with the contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands (Delivery to time, quality and budget)

   •   Understanding the pre-requisite inputs from other disciplines and functions which enable maintenance outputs to be achieved and presented

   •   Ability to validate the work of other engineers (peer review) and develop their technical skills and understanding of key functional and project deliverables

   •   Communicating with customer representatives, classification authorities, suppliers and with other internal functions as necessary to discuss and resolve technical issues

Your skills and experiences:

   •   Good Knowledge of engineering principles and understanding of the ILS/IPS suite of disciplines

   •   Knowledge and experience of either Electrical / Mechanical systems

   •   Ability to read and analyse schematic diagrams and technical documentation and analyse technical problems and provide solutions within the digital environment

The ILS/IPS Engineer – Maintenance team:

As an ILS/IPS Engineer – Maintenance, you will be working within a team responsible for influencing the operability and maintainability of the platform, analysing systems and spatial design and the design, production, supply, and maintenance of the support products required by the platform in service. This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence operations and maintenance, supporting complex solutions, whilst being able to develop your capabilities within Support Engineering within a dynamic and challenging environment.

Leidos is seeking an ILS Engineer with strong experience in the management and delivery of optimised support solutions for UK MOD.

UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL

You will require strong interpersonal skills to not only to interact with members of the ILS and engineering teams, but also to interface to the customer. You should be experienced in working on UK MOD programmes, specifically those with a strong IT element. You will be responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting on the status of the ILS programme.

You will be comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative, delivery focused environment. Your experience of the defence sector will further enhance your ability to work closely with the customer.

Skills and Knowledge

Ability to define a full ILS Programme of work, including creation of an Integrated Support Plan and associated ILS element plans

Skills to conduct Supportability Analysis in sufficient detail to influence system design; conducting analysis and trade-off among architecture design alternatives; and developing and control of a Total Cost of Ownership / Life Cycle Cost (TCO/LCC) model.

Skills and knowledge to perform Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) analysis including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Levels of Repair Analysis (LORA) and Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA). Also the ability to construct Reliability Block Diagrams using proprietary software tools.

Spares Ranging and Scaling using software tools

Management and delivery of the Technical Documentation programme in accordance with Army Equipment Support Publication (AESP) standards)

Identification and documentation of Packaging, Handling, Storage & Transportation (PHS&T) solutions

Identification and documentation of disposal solutions

Skills and knowledge regarding software support

Skills and knowledge of Obsolescence Management processes

Skills and knowledge with respect to the construction, management and maintenance of a Logistics Information Repository (LIR)

Skills and knowledge of Configuration Management

Knowledge of Def Stan 00-600 and Defence Logistics Framework (DLF)

Experience of working within Agile, (including SAFe) delivery approaches

Clearance

The role will require DV clearance which can be sponsored by Leidos. The candidate must have SC currently and be suitable for DV clearance.The role will be predominately based at the Leidos Farnborough office but will travel to Customer sites across the UK as required.
