Your future duties and responsibilities
As a GIS Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge geospatial solutions for our clients and help shape the development of CGI’s own geospatial IP. You’ll bring a combination of hands-on technical ability, stakeholder engagement expertise and a deep understanding of geospatial technologies.

Key responsibilities will include:

– Designing and developing bespoke geospatial solutions for our clients
– Leading the creation of solution design documentation
– Engaging with stakeholders and customers throughout design and delivery phases
– Capturing and refining both technical and business requirements
– Contributing to bid creation and supporting new business opportunities
– Leading teams across multiple workstreams, including tasking and supporting developers
– Driving innovation in CGI’s geospatial capability

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
– Strong experience in geospatial solution design and architecture
– Hands-on software development background with geospatial tools and technologies
– Excellent stakeholder and customer engagement skills
– Experience producing technical documentation and solution designs
– Ability to manage and lead technical teams across delivery streams
– Strong understanding of both technical and business requirements
– Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar
– Experience working within government or public sector environments (desirable)

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS technologies, system architecture, and project management. Job Requirements Essential Skills: * Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.* 7+ years of experience in GIS architecture, design, and implementation, with a focus on enterprise-level GIS solutions.* At least 5+ years in a GIS Developer / Sr. Developer role * Strong proficiency in GIS software and technologies, including ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise Suite, Open-Source Web GIS tools like GeoServer, OpenLayers, Leaflet etc., QGIS, and related tools.* Experience with cloud-based GIS platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS and ArcGIS Online,) and enterprise GIS solutions.* Solid understanding of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL / PostGIS, SQL Server or Oracle Spatial) and data modeling.* Strong knowledge of web services and APIs, including REST and SOAP, for integrating GIS with other applications.* Proven experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams.* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.* Experience of AI/ML usage in GIS Applications Domain Experience * Railways, Government especially in UK, Utilities (Electric, Water, and Gas) and InsuranceNice to Have Skills. * A collaborative teammate who appreciates the value of communicating, brainstorming and sharing information * Enthusiastic and career driven problem solver who enjoys widely varied technical challenges * Able to travel to client sites in and out of the region (typically infrequent multi-day trips or rare multi-week trips, currently in the UK but potentially overseas in future) * Willing to perform duties outside of the basic job description and quickly expand skill set into new areas * Able to thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing objectives and priorities * A GIS evangelist who comfortably and enthusiastically engages non-techies in discussions about technologyQualifications: * GIS certification (e.g., GISP, Esri Technical Certification) is a plus.* Experience with programming/scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL.* Familiarity with remote sensing and geospatial data processing techniques.* Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniquesDue to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply.
