Are you an experienced engineering leader ready to take on complex, high-value projects in a highly regulated environment? We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and inspire a team of up to 10 engineers, delivering robust, innovative solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

About the Role

As Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the full engineering lifecycle across multiple contracts. You’ll act as a key technical authority, mentor your team, and ensure that all solutions meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

This is a hybrid role based in Haydock, with flexible working options to support work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities of Engineering Manager

Lead engineering delivery across multiple high-value contracts
Lead, manage and mentor a team of up to circa 10 engineers
Act as Design Authority and/or Nominated Engineer
Drive innovation and continuous improvement
Oversee FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and Design for Manufacture activities
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality frameworks
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver best-in-class solutions

What We’re Looking For

Degree-qualified engineer in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
15+ years of technical industry experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or signatory role
Expertise in areas such as plant and equipment design, remote handling, machinery design, lifting equipment or high-integrity mechanical systems
Strong understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
Experience in FEED and Design for Manufacture

Dans le cadre d’un projet stratégique, notre client recherche un(e) Engineering Manager Freelance pour prendre la relève en intérim. Cette mission, qui servira de relais jusqu’au recrutement d’un responsable en CDI, consiste à piloter l’évolution et l’optimisation d’un système de réservation innovant et à forts enjeux commerciaux et techniques. Vous intégrerez une équipe d’experts, dans un contexte de transformation digitale et de montée en charge des systèmes, afin d’assurer la continuité des opérations tout en préparant le terrain pour le futur leadership en CDI.

Vos responsabilités :

Alignement stratégique & Impact commercial :

Assurer la cohérence entre les décisions techniques et les objectifs commerciaux, notamment en optimisant les indicateurs de performance (SLO, taux de conversion, coûts).

Collaborer étroitement avec les équipes produit, marketing et opérationnelles pour garantir un alignement global des initiatives.

Leadership technique & Architecture :

Concevoir et déployer des architectures backend performantes et résilientes, capables de supporter de gros volumes de données en temps quasi réel.

Superviser le développement de solutions techniques (microservices, caching, architectures distribuées, API, intégrations avec systèmes GDS/NDC) tout en restant opérationnel et impliqué dans le code.

Management & Exécution opérationnelle :

Manager et accompagner l’équipe d’ingénieurs, en favorisant l’innovation et l’excellence technique.

Gérer la planification, le suivi des budgets et la coordination des projets pour assurer la qualité et la continuité des opérations en attendant la prise en fonction d’un CDI.

Expérience technique :

Expérience avérée dans l’architecture et le build de backends capables de gérer d’importants volumes de données en temps quasi réel (ex : systèmes distribués, caching avancé, intégrations API complexes).

Expertise démontrée dans l’opération de systèmes soumis à des SLO exigeantes.

Expérience « hands on » : capacité à concevoir, développer et optimiser des systèmes, et non seulement à manager une équipe.

Compétences techniques :

Maîtrise des architectures microservices et des systèmes distribués pour des environnements à forte complexité.

Connaissance approfondie des techniques de caching, des mécanismes de connectivités multiples et des solutions de monitoring.

La maîtrise de Java représente un atout majeur, mais nous sommes ouverts à des candidats ultra compétents dans d’autres langages, motivés pour monter en compétences sur Java si nécessaire.

Qualités personnelles :

Intelligence et esprit d’analyse exceptionnel pour appréhender des environnements techniques et commerciaux complexes.

Capacité à travailler en autonomie et à prendre des décisions stratégiques dans un contexte d’enjeux élevés.

Forcément un profil qui de base était ingénieur système (qui ensuite connait et a connu l’ancien monde de l’infra avec des cloud privé et ONPREMISE et qui a évolué dans sa carrière sur du cloud public (Azure mais la connaissance d’un autre cloud n’est pas rédhibitoire))

 

Maîtrise de :

 

–        Cloud privé et ON PREMISE, et qui a évolué sur du cloud public

–        Maîtrise de la virtualisation (VMWARE, ANSIBLE, TERRAFORM, AWS, AZURE)

–        CNCF (Cloud native computing foundation) comme Kubernetes et Prometheus

–        OPENSOURCE

–        Management d’une équipe de 15 personnes (DEVOPS, DBOPS et SYSOPS)
